Bold leading line: Bianca Belair’s finger ordeal has been longer and tougher than anyone expected, and the details reveal a painstaking road to recovery that’s far from over. But here’s where it gets controversial: does the extent of the injury redefine what elite athletes can push through, or does it expose a fragile boundary between performance and medical caution?
Bianca Belair has posted an update on Instagram about her recent finger surgery, shedding new light on a lengthy struggle that has kept her out of action for nearly a year. In a Wednesday feed post that featured a graphic image from the procedure, the three-time WWE Women’s Champion explained that it has been 10 months since the injury, eight months of rehab, and five doctors before she finally had surgery this week.
And we are FINALLY here. Now I can finally start to put this behind me, Belair wrote. Thank you so much, Dr. Desai, for hearing me and fixing me!
Belair also spoke candidly about how complex the injury was. Fingers and joints are notoriously intricate—frustrating, confusing, yet essential. If you don’t truly understand what that means, consider yourself lucky and hope you never have to find out.
A 10-Month Nightmare
Belair sustained the injury during her Triple Threat match against Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY at WrestleMania 41 on April 20, 2025. What was initially believed to be a simple broken finger turned out to be a broken knuckle and joint, with Belair later revealing that the injury was far more complicated than it appeared.
She had initially expected an eight to 12-week layoff, but the recovery extended to 10 months and required consultations with five different doctors before surgery on February 17.
Belair has previously stated that while the bone healed, her finger wouldn’t bend, making it unsafe to wrestle. This explained why she hadn’t returned to in-ring action despite progress.
What’s Next for The EST?
Belair began physical therapy the day after surgery and has been posting clips of her rehabilitation to document the process.
Her only WWE appearance since the injury was serving as the special guest referee at WWE Evolution in July 2025 for the No Holds Barred match between Jade Cargill and Naomi.
The procedure is expected to keep Belair out of WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas on April 18–19. While recovery timelines for finger surgeries typically range from two to four weeks for basic healing, regaining full grip strength can take three to six months. This makes a SummerSlam 2026 return a more plausible target for her in-ring comeback.
SEScoops extends wishes for Bianca Belair’s full and speedy recovery.
